1536-well plates are multi-well vessels designed to handle a very large amount of samples, making them very well-suited for high-throughput screening and cell-based assays for drug development. The external dimensions of this plate format are similar to those of 96- and 384-well plates thanks to the miniaturization of the working volume of each well. This standardized size allows 1536-well plates to be compatible with many automation platforms. This advantage can also be a drawback as only liquid handling equipment generally can accommodate such plates; manual handling of plates is not recommended. Black plates are recommended for fluorescence measurements due to minimal scattered light in the background. White plates, on the other hand, are more ideal for luminescence measurements to maximize signal reflection. Some plates and dishes are sealable with lids to facilitate uniform gas exchange and minimize contamination. Click on the products below for more product specifications.
