I am using Opti-MEM when I need to transfect cells since it has a unique formulation of ingredients that allows for a reduction of Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). Transfection efficiency is much higher with Opti/-MEM as FBS in regular media hampers transfection. Overall, I suggest using it during this experimental condition.
