3D Microscopes

Microscopes capable of 3D imaging enable researchers to observe and analyze the three-dimensional structure and components of cells and tissues. By scanning multiple focal planes of an object at incremental heights, the collected images can be compiled and reconstructed into a fully focused three-dimensional image. This grants the observer the ability to access and manipulate a 3D image to discover features that may not be readily visible in two dimensions. 3D microscopes generally use advanced software to automate the processes of image acquisition and 3D reconstruction.
