Radioimunoassays (RIA) are available from several suppliers to measure the concentrations of specific antigens, such as drugs and metabolites. RIAs rely on the competitive binding between a target-specific antibody, radiolabeled antigens, and unlabeled antigens within a sample. In a reaction that contains a fixed amount of labeled antigen and antibody, increasing antigens from the sample will lead to a lower amount of measurable radioactivity. A dose-response curve can then be used to extrapolate the concentration of sample antigen. Two commonly used methods of RIAs are double-antibody RIA and coated-tube RIA. Radioimmunoassays are sensitive and can be used for drug detection. Visit the radioimmunoassay kit suppliers for more details, including specificity and kit components.
